Sri Lanka’s national carrier SriLankan Airlines provides engineering facilities to Air Seychelles
Sri Lanka’s national carrier, SriLankan Airlines has reportedly stated that Air Seychelles has become a customer of SriLankan’s engineering unit.
The local media has reported that SriLankan Engineering had carried out an ‘A Check’ on the first Air Seychelles Airbus A320 aircraft at its newly upgraded hangar for A320/A321 at its Maintenance-Repair-Organisation unit.
“SriLankan has made a significant investment in upgrading our MRO facilities at BIA (Bandaranaike International Airport,” Vipula Gunatilleka, Chief Executive Officer of SriLankan Airlines has been quoted as saying in a media statement.
“Coupled with the expertise and experience of our SriLankan Engineering staff and the global certifications from EASA, we are confident that our MRO arm will make a significant contribution in terms of revenue for the airline.”
D.A.G. Jayasuriya, Chief Technical Officer of SriLankan Airlines has been quoted as saying that the SriLankan Engineering was working to get more service contracts in the future.
SriLankan Engineering has further stated it is certified by European Union Air Safety Agency (EASA) for Line Maintenance, Base Maintenance and Engineering Workshops.
According to reports, SriLankan Engineering has approvals from national aviation authorities of Seychelles, Singapore, China, India, Qatar, UAE and Bahrain for aircraft maintenance.
It also has authorization to certify aircraft operating to Sri Lanka’s Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) as well as the Male International Airport in the Maldives.
