While the ongoing tension in the Middle East is expected to affect tourism industries in the South and Southeast Asian countries due to the impact on air travel between the western and eastern nations, there’s an increasing growth in foreign travel among Asians within the region. Sri Lanka has recorded high tourist arrival numbers from both India and China through the years, and the numbers continue to increase. It is in such a backdrop that Sri Lankan tourism authorities are looking at promoting Sri Lanka in Bangladesh to attract more Bangladeshi tourists to the country. All these developments indicate the continuing expansion of the tourism industry in Sri Lanka resulting in a host of business/investment opportunities for foreign businesses/investors on the lookout for lucrative ventures in Sri Lanka. The increasing interest among international leisure and hospitality brands to enter Sri Lanka and the growth and profits of businesses already operating in the country indicate the growth and business potential of Sri Lanka’s tourism industry.
