New domestic airline, FitsAir, to commence operations in Sri Lanka

FitsAir, a new domestic airline is expected to commence operating domestic flights in Sri Lanka shortly since the airline has already undertaken it’s proving flight recently.
Operated for the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL), the aircraft had flown from the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) to Batticaloa.
The local media reported that the 70 seater aircraft’s Flight Crew was headed by Captain Zaw Hein and First Officer Kyaw Soekya, both who have over 4,000 and 2,500 hours of experience respectively.
The proving flight had flown with 46 passengers on board including the Chairman, the Director General/CEO, the Deputy Director General, Head of various divisions and many Senior Inspectors of the CAASL and the Deputy Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services Limited (AASL).
According to reports, during the in-flight service, CAASL inspectors staged a variety of emergency scenarios to test the cabin crew which were handled with the utmost expertise and professionalism. These emergency situations were conducted not just during the flight but were carried out and successfully executed upon landing as well which earned the cabin crew excellent evaluations for their professional performance both on the ground and in-flight.
The return flight had reportedly concluded with heartfelt applause from every passenger.
The media report states that FitsAir will regularly schedule flights to Jaffna, Batticaloa, and Trincomalee all departing from BIA, catering to the continuous demand of traveling to Eastern and Northern Sri Lanka.
Additionally, the 70 seater ATR-72 and the 12 seater Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft will be included in the fleet for all domestic charter flights departing from BIA or Colombo based Domestic Airport at Ratmalana.
