LOT Polish to resume direct flights to Sri Lanka twice a week from this December

LOT Polish Airlines has reportedly announced the resumption of direct flights to Sri Lanka from 7 December. The move has been witnessed as a fresh boost to post-Covid tourism.
Accordingly, LOT Polish is scheduled to fly twice weekly to Colombo until the end of the winter season.
Sri Lanka Ambassador in Poland Dhammika Kumari Semasinghe has recently met with LOT Polish Airlines Chief Commercial Officer and Board Member Michal Fijol and welcomed the resumption of the carrier’s services to Colombo.
According to local media reports, the Ambassador had underscored that direct air connectivity between Warsaw and Colombo was a major catalyst for expanding bilateral trade and tourism. Sri Lanka has reportedly attracted over 20,000 Polish tourists per annum in 2018 and 2019.
Fijol had welcomed the Sri Lankan government’s decision to re-open its borders for tourism, including the easy and enabling protocols adopted for fully vaccinated foreign travellers.
He had added that LOT Polish was already partnering with Rainbow, among the top three Polish tour operators, to promote Sri Lanka as the first Asian destination for Polish and other European visitors.
Ambassador Semasinghe and Fijol have further discussed viable ways and means to expand cargo operations between Sri Lanka and Poland.

Many international airlines have announced resumption of flights to Sri Lanka and in some instances there have been an increase in the number of flights operated to the island. There has been a steady growth in tourist arrivals to the country and the continuous easing of health restrictions for foreign travellers to the country, there has been an increase in foreign travellers arriving in the country. Sri Lanka has been listed as a must visit destination as well as a Top 10 island destinations. All these together with the internationally recognised safety and hygiene certifications received by Sri Lanka’s airports have made the island an attractive post Covid travel destination. With Sri Lanka’s economic expansion and development as an emerging business destination in the South Asian region, foreign businesses/investors could explore the growing opportunities in the island.
