Air Arabia announces new weekly flights from Abu Dhabi to Sri Lanka

The Morning: Air Arabia Abu Dhabi has announced a new route connecting Abu Dhabi to Colombo, Sri Lanka.
With operations beginning on 3 January 2024, the low-cost carrier will offer three weekly flights between Abu Dhabi International Airport and Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).
“We are glad to add Colombo to our growing network with direct flights from Abu Dhabi. Air Arabia Abu Dhabi continues its expansion strategy to further strengthen the connectivity of the capital with multiple destinations while contributing to the growth of the UAE’s travel and tourism industries,” Air Arabia Adel Al Ali Group Chief Executive Officer said.
This move is part of Air Arabia Abu Dhabi’s ongoing strategy to enhance connectivity to and from the capital. The addition of the Colombo route marks the carrier’s 34th destination.
Air Arabia Abu Dhabi operates a fleet of 10 Airbus A320 aircraft, with its cabins providing passengers added comfort, as it features one of the most generous seat-pitches in economy class.
The airline also offers a variety of snacks and meals from “Sky Cafe” at affordable prices and a complimentary in-flight streaming service called “Sky Time”.
Passengers can even earn, transfer, and spend loyalty points through the carrier’s “Air Rewards” programmed.

Many international airlines have increased flights being operated to Sri Lanka, indicating an increase in foreign travelers to the country. The steady growth in foreign travelers to the country also indicates an increase in business/investment opportunities in Sri Lanka’s tourism, airport and aviation sectors. The leisure and hospitality sectors under the tourism industry have shown a steady expansion given the increase in arrivals of tourists and business travelers.
