Sri Lankan President to hold special business and investment conference during visit to Japan

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena is scheduled to hold talks with Japanese investors during an official visit to Japan that commenced on Monday (12).
The President’s visit to Japan is aimed at strengthening the long standing bilateral relations between the two countries.
A statement from the President’s Office has states that the President will participate in a special business and investment conference during his Japanese tour.
The President of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and representatives of organizations such as Japan Business Council (JBC) and Japan Foreign Trade Council (JFTC) are scheduled to hold discussions with the Sri Lankan President.
According to reports, Japanese investors have shown increased interest in Sri Lanka following the end of the 30-year civil war.
During this visit, the President is scheduled to participate in a tour of observation of a modern waste management centre.
Ministers Tilak Marapana and Nimal Siripala de Silva along with Members of Parliament as well as government officials are accompanying the President in the tour.

The Sri Lankan President’s visit to Japan and his meetings with officials of the Japanese government as well as businessmen would strengthen bilateral as well as trade relations between the two countries. Japan is also one of the main donors of funds to Sri Lanka. The growing ties between Sri Lanka and Japan could be used by Japanese investors to explore investment opportunities in Sri Lanka while Sri Lankan businesses could also seek foreign partnerships among Japanese businesses/investors.
