Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau’s Destination Sri Lanka pavilion a firm favourite at ITB Berlin
The pavilion of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) – Destination Sri Lanka – was reportedly a favourite at the world’s leading travel and trade show ITB in Berlin, Germany last week.
ITB Berlin is known as the largest global tourism platform connecting over 180 countries with thousands of potential buyers from all parts of the globe.
Tourism Development Minister John Amaratunga, who declared open the Sri Lanka Pavilion, has reassured the international tourism community that the unfortunate events that took place along the outskirts of Kandy were now under control and that normalcy had been restored in the affected areas.
According to reports, the SLTPB has showcased an eye-catching pavilion and created a business setting for 68 hoteliers and tour operators from Sri Lanka to network with the global tourism industry.
Amaratunga has said that Sri Lanka Tourism has drawn up a strategic plan to develop tourism based on a long-term vision and the UN sustainable development goals.
Meanwhile, German officials at the event have reportedly invited stakeholders of Sri Lanka Tourism to join hands with the German authorities to promote Sri Lanka as a destination.

The participation of 68 hoteliers and tour operators from Sri Lanka at the event indicates the large presence of island nation at the world’s largest tourism trade fair.
