Vietnamese tour operators visit Sri Lanka for media and trade FAM tour

A media and trade familiarisation tour was recently organized by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) and the Sri Lankan Embassy in Vietnam for a 13-member delegation which included high-profile tour operators representing the Vietnamese Travel Association (VITM).
According to reports, the delegation was given a warm welcome at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) by Sri Lanka Tourism upon arrival on 13 March.
The delegation has co-ordinated with industry stakeholders and tourism officials to promote Sri Lanka as a potential travel destination during their tour in the country. A business-to-business (B2B) session with local destination management companies (DMCs) and hoteliers was also arranged in Colombo on the last day of the tour.

Sri Lanka’s tourism industry is on a growth path with a steady increase in tourist arrivals to the country. The first few months have shown the arrival of hundreds of thousands of tourists to the country. Sri Lanka’s tourism authorities are also engaged in promoting the island in key foreign source markets while also exploring new tourism concepts for promotion. The growth in Sri Lanka’s tourism industry has shown an expansion in business/investment opportunities in the industry, especially in the leisure and hospitality sectors. Many international hospitality brands have expressed interest in investing in Sri Lanka. The island has also received much international exposure as a must visit destination as well as one of the top island destinations. With Sri Lanka fast becoming a business hub in the South Asian region, foreign businesses/investors could confidently explore the growing opportunities in Sri Lanka’s tourism industry.
