Construction of 220kV Underground Cable from Kerawalapitiya to Colombo.

In line with CEB’s“Long Term Transmission Development Plan” and Government policy on constructing new power plants, two new 300 MW Combined Cycle LNG fired power plants will be installed near Kerawalapitiya Switching Station and connected to the National Grid by end of 2023. For the evacuation of power from these power plants and to maintain the network system stability and reliability, the 2nd 220kV underground cable from Kerawalapitiya Switching Station to Colombo Port Grid Substation has become a necessity. Initial technical design and feasibility of the project has already been completed.
Design, supply, construct, test and commission of a single circuit 220kV 1600 sqmm, 3x single core, XLPE insulated underground cable system and optical fiber cable with 24 fibers for communication and SCADA from Kerawalapitiya Switching Station to the Colombo Port Grid Substation.
