Sri Lanka’s CHEC Port City Colombo Ltd. reportedly represented Sri Lanka at the World Cities Summit (WCS) 2022 held at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore from 31 July to 3 August 2022.
According to reports, this biennial global event unites city leaders and associates from across 90 countries under this year’s theme, “Liveable and Sustainable Cities: Emerging Stronger.”
Port City Colombo envisions itself as the most liveable city in South Asia imbuing technology and sustainability with its Smart City concept to enhance living convenience.
The three-day Summit was attended by CHEC Port City Colombo Deputy Managing Director Thulci Aluwihare, who spoke at the WCS track session on the topic of “How Can Partnerships Transform the Development of Cities?”
The project company reportedly focused on crucial recovery efforts, pushing Sri Lanka towards the future by involving it in important discussions among global leaders and industry specialists as Sri Lanka battles several political and economic challenges.

Sri Lanka’s Port City Project in Colombo is one of the mega development projects in the country that is marked to help the island reach its next level of development. Sri Lanka is targeting to become an emerging business destination in the South Asian region supported by the country’s geographical positioning in the Indian Ocean and the strong trade ties enjoyed by the country. Despite facing many internal and external challenges including a global pandemic, Sri Lanka’s economy has shown great resilience and is once again on the path to recovery.
