Sri Lanka’s Pelwatte Milk Industries receives state land to promote dairy industry

Sri Lanka’s Cabinet of Ministers has recently approved a proposal to transfer an extent of 22 hectares of state land to Pelwatte Milk Industries Ltd.
The Cabinet of Ministers had approved the proposal to assign the land to the respective company that was submitted by Sri Lanka’s Minister of Lands, the Government Information Department announced.
The land that is to be allocated to the dairy company is reportedly located in the Buttala Divisional Secretariat area in the Moneragala District.
Accordingly, the land is to be given on a 30-year lease.

Sri Lankan authorities are focussed on developing the country’s fairy industry in a bid to make Sri Lanka self sufficient in fresh milk. The government of Sri Lanka has announced that state would support and provide incentives to develop the dairy industry. Foreign businesses/investors could therefore explore business/investment opportunities in Sri Lanka’s dairy industry.
