OSL take:

Sri Lanka’s expanding economy and recovering tourism industry are creating new business/investment opportunities for foreign businesses/investors in real estate development and hospitality, with demand emerging across residential, commercial, leisure and tourism-related projects. The partnership between Hunas Holdings and Japan-based CCH Inc highlights growing international interest in developing and managing real estate and hospitality projects in Sri Lanka. Such partnerships can bring foreign capital, development expertise and international operating experience into a market with significant room for expansion. Business/investment opportunities extend beyond traditional hotels to boutique resorts, branded residences, serviced apartments, mixed-use developments, wellness and leisure properties, and tourism-oriented residential projects. Investors can also explore redevelopment of existing properties and projects in emerging tourism destinations outside Colombo. The hospitality sector offers additional opportunities in eco-resorts, wellness tourism, luxury accommodation and destination-based experiences, while rising visitor numbers can support investment in supporting infrastructure, restaurants, entertainment and tourism services. For foreign businesses, Sri Lanka offers the potential to combine real estate development with hospitality and tourism, creating diversified projects that can generate recurring income while benefiting from the country’s longer-term economic and tourism growth.
