Sri Lanka’s first 7-star hotel Aviyana Private Chalets makes steady progress

Daily FT: Work on Sri Lanka’s first seven-star hotel project, Aviyana Private Chalets (Aviyana Ceylon), under development in the Udispattuwa area of Kandy, is progressing steadily, Aviyana Hotel Group Chairman/CEO Dr. Thisara Hewawasam said.
Dr. Hewawasam said about 70% of the work on the project is now complete.
He said foreign tourists to the hotel will get the unique experience of enjoying the cleanest air, cleanest water, and one of the most pleasant environments in the world. The hotel will be accessible from five directions, namely from the Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Ratnapura, Kandy, and Matale districts.
Activities available will include mountain climbing, paragliding (parachute), skydiving, and many others.
There will also be holistic activities such as meditation and yoga exercises. “One can be with nature at our resort,” Dr. Hewawasam said.
A group of media personnel were taken on a tour of Aviyana recently. “We expect the one-year income of Aviyana Hotel to be Rs. 500 million as of now,” Dr. Hewawasam told the media group.

OSL take:
Sri Lanka’s steadily growing tourism industry has opened up a host of new business/investment opportunities, especially in the leisure and hospitality sectors. The opportunities in these sectors also include the development of infrastructure and supplementary infrastructure facilities required to meet the increasing demand in the tourism industry. The many promotional campaigns carried out in key tourist source markets by local tourism authorities and Sri Lanka being identified as a must visit tourist destination will result in the continued growth in the country’s tourism industry. The growing business potential in Sri Lanka’s tourism industry is evident by the interest shown by international leisure and hospitality brands to enter Sri Lanka. The growth and profits recorded by businesses in Sri Lanka’s tourism industry means that foreign businesses/investors could explore the steadily increasing business/investment opportunities in the industry.
