Sri Lanka’s expertise in gem and jewellery sector sought by Afghanistan

Ambassador to Afghanistan in Sri Lanka has expressed Afghanistan’s interest in obtaining Sri Lanka’s expertise in the gem and jewellery industry.
Ambassador M. Ashraf Haidari has made this observation during a meeting with Sri Lanka’s State Minister of Gem and Jewelry Related Industries Lohan Ratwatte.
During the meeting, Haidari has discussed many potential areas of cooperation in the gem and jewellery sector where Afghanistan needs Sri Lanka’s expertise and experience in extracting, processing, designing, and marketing precious and semi-precious stones.
According to a statement by the Afghan Embassy in Colombo, the State Minister has offered to visit Afghanistan and meet his counterpart Minister Haroon Chakhansuri as soon as travel restrictions have been eased.
The Afghan envoy and State Minister have further discussed the launching of a weekly Kabul-Colombo flight.
