Sri Lanka’s Damro, which is known as one of South Asia’s largest furniture manufacturers, has reportedly drawn a plan to set up 25 mega showrooms within the next six months further strengthening its showroom network in neighbouring India.
According to local media reports, Damro currently operates about 80 showrooms in India and the continued confidence of the Indian customers in Damro products has greatly contributed to the success of the company.
The company’s ability to continue and thrive in the face of the current Covid 19 pandemic in India is a clear indication of its stability in the country, Damro has said in a statement.
According to Damro, its ability to carry on its business operation despite the catastrophic situation like the Covid 19 epidemic and the extensive customer base it has built up over the past 20 years have confirmed the future growth and sustainability of the company in the Indian market.
Damro currently exports more than 100 40ft-containers per month to India.
“The company expects to increase its exports to more than 150 40ft-containers per month with the expected sales growth through the proposed expansion of Indian showroom network,” the statement by Damro has added.
The expansion of the Sri Lankan furniture manufacturer in to the Indian market is indicative of the growth and strength of Sri Lanka’s private sector. Sri Lanka provides a business conducive environment for foreign businesses/investors to explore business opportunities in the country as well as form partnerships and joint ventures with local companies. Sri Lanka’s geographical positioning in the Indian Ocean, ease of doing business environment and the many trade agreements as well as trade concessions enjoyed by the country have made it a business hub in the South Asian region.
