Sri Lankan lotteries board launches first digital lottery

The Development Lotteries Board (DLB) of Sri Lanka has reportedly marked a significant turning point of its history by launching the first digital lottery ‘Sasiri’ under the patronage of Sri Lanka’s Finance Ministry Secretary, S.R. Attygalle.

According to reports, ‘Sasiri’ is the first digital lottery in South Asia and it can be purchased online through the DLB Sweep App as a printed lottery ticket and ‘Lagna Wasana,’ ‘Super Ball’ as well as ‘Shanida’ lotteries can also be purchased online through the same App.

“The main objective of the introduction of this ‘Sasiri’ lottery ticket is to make a financial contribution to the COVID-19 Fund established during the recent past to face the pandemic. Therefore the profits earned from this lottery sale are remitted to the President’s Fund and it is expected to remit this money to COVID Fund from the President’s Fund,” an official from DLB has been quoted as saying in the local media.

The draws are to be held every Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Arrangements have also been made to credit the cash prizes directly to the bank accounts of the winners.
