Sri Lankan government permits CEB to purchase power from small solar power plant
The government of Sri Lanka has decided to permit the state operated Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to purchase power from a small solar power plant at Rs. 14.24 a unit, under build own operate (BOO) basis.
Sri Lanka’s Government Information Department has stated that the Cabinet of Ministers has this week approved the purchase of power from a plant build by Gold Corporation Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, under Sri Lanka’s ‘Soorya Bala Sangramaya II” or the operation to expand solar power in the country.
The plant will be connected to the Moneragala grid sub-station, the Government Information Department has said.
The contract has been awarded by a Cabinet appointed negotiations committee and the relevant proposal has been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
