Sri Lankan government to conduct digital advertising programmes to promote tourism in India and China

The Cabinet of Ministers in Sri Lanka has reportedly granted approval for the Global Level Tourism Development Project presented by Tourism Development and Christian Cultural Affairs Minister of Sri Lanka, John Amaratunga.
The Government Information Department has stated that the government has also decided to award contracts to carry out digital advertising programmes to promote Sri Lanka as a preferred destination in India and China.
Accordingly, the campaigns will be carried out by Havas Media India Ltd. in India, and Ionic Media Institution in China.
According to reports, the decision was approved, following recommendations by the Cabinet-appointed Standing Procurement Committee and Procurement Appeal Board.
The Sri Lankan government has last week approved the awarding of the contract for the digital promotional campaign to position Sri Lanka as a preferred destination in the United Kingdom, Germany, and France.

OSL take:

The planned digital advertising programmes in India and China would result in a further increase in the tourist arriving to Sri Lanka from the two countries.
