Sri Lankan authorities to focus on importing eco friendly vehicles

Sri Lanka’s State Minister of Money and Capital Market and State Enterprise Reforms Ajith Nivard Cabraal has reportedly stated that special attention would be paid to ensure the importation of eco-friendly vehicles to the country.
The State Minister has made this observation in parliament recently.
He has further noted that special attention has been paid to the manufacturing of vehicles locally and that a vehicle assembling and value addition system is being implemented in the country expeditiously.

The number of vehicles imported to Sri Lanka from 2015 to 2019 was 25,155,46, Cabrall has noted.
The amount spent on these vehicles imported amounts to Rs. 1,239 billion, the State Minister has further stated, adding that these vehicles have been imported from 103 countries.
