Sri Lanka Tourism’s new destination brand identity – ‘So Sri Lanka’ – launched in London
Sri Lanka Tourism reportedly launched its new destination brand identity titled ‘So Sri Lanka,’ at an event at the Grosvenor House London Ballroom. The event was organized to coincide with the World Travel Market (WTM) 2018.
According to reports, the new brand identity was launched in the presence of Tourism Minister Vasantha Senanayake; Member of the House of Lords the Rt. Lord Naseby; MP for North-East Hampshire and the UK PM’s Trade Envoy to Sri Lanka Ranil Jayawardena; High Commissioner to the UK Manisha Gunasekera; Mayor of Harrow Council Kareema Marikar.
High Commission of Sri Lanka in London has said the WTM, held from 5 to 7 November 2018 at the Excel Exhibition Centre, London, was attended by over 60 industry partners from Sri Lanka, among others.
Meanwhile media reports note that speaking at the new destination brand launch, the Tourism Minister has stated that the ‘So Sri Lanka’ concept embraces everything Sri Lankan and captures all that Sri Lanka has on offer, and he expects tourism to become an even more significant contributor to the country’s economy in the future.
The Sri Lankan pavilion had showcased traditional Sri Lankan dance, sweetmeats, and the proverbial Ceylon tea, providing a unique opportunity for visitors to have a glimpse into the culturally rich traditions of Sri Lanka.
The launch of the new brand identity for Sri Lanka tourism last week would further boost the tourism sector that is on a growth path. Following Lonely Planet’s classification as Sri Lanka being the number 1 tourist destination 2019, the country’s tourism, leisure and hospitality sectors are on a high. Interested foreign investors/businesses could explore investment opportunities in Sri Lanka’s tourism sector.
