Sri Lanka Tourism teams up with Airbnb to add more activities on its booking engine to promote tourism
Tourism authorities in Sri Lanka have reportedly teamed up with Airbnb to place activities ranging from surfing, wildlife, food walks and craft tours on its booking engine in the first deal of its kind in Asia.
“We’re delighted to sign this partnership with the Sri Lankan Tourism Ministry – the first partnership of its kind in Asia,” Airbnb Country Manager India and Sri Lanka, Amanpreet Bajaj has said in a statement.
“Through this Asia-first partnership, travelers, led by passionate local hosts, will be able to immerse themselves in unique cultural experiences across Sri Lanka.”
According to reports, the booking engine will feature 40 ‘Airbnb Experiences’ hosted by experts in their fields.
“We are excited to work with AirBnB to promote experiences in Sri Lanka and we are of the view that an engagement of this nature would be of great value to the tourism industry of Sri Lanka,” Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, Kavan Ratnayaka has said.
“We look forward to offer a high-level of commitment to support Airbnb Experiences and use this opportunity to add value to the tourism experience that Sri Lanka offers.”

The Sri Lankan government is engaged in an aggressive tourism promotion campaign to further promote the country’s growing tourism sector. The latest deal signed between the Sri Lankan tourism authorities and Airbnb will result in the arrival of a more discerning group of tourists to the country.
