Sri Lanka sees increase in high net worth investors entering the country

NDB Equities of Sri Lanka has reportedly said that the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) has witnessed high net worth and institutional investor participation in several leading Sri Lankan companies – Commercial Bank, Access Engineering, John Keells Holdings, Teejay Lanka and Cargills.
“Mixed interest was observed in Tokyo Cement Company voting and nonvoting and Aitken Spence whilst retail interest was noted in Hikkaduwa Beach Resort, Colombo Land & Development Company and Citrus Leisure,” NDB Equities has noted.
NDB Equities has added that the price gains in counters such as John Keells Holdings, Ceylon Cold Stores and Distilleries have boosted the ASI to its highest reading for 2019.

The assumption of office by a new President has brought about a sense of stability in the country that has resulted in an increase in foreign investments to the country. Sri Lanka’s geographical positioning in the Indian Ocean, the ease of doing business environment in the country and the many trade agreements as well as trade concessions enjoyed by the country have made it an attractive business destination in the South Asian region.
