Sri Lanka officially launches country’s participation at Expo 2020 Dubai

The official launch of the Sri Lanka’s participation at the Expo 2020 Dubai was reportedly held last week at the auditorium of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) in the presence of UAE Ambassador to Sri Lanka Ahmed Ali Ibrahim Al Mualla, Sri Lanka’s Deputy Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade Nalin Bandara, heads of trade chambers and products associations as well as other distinguished guests.
According to reports, the official website of the Sri Lanka’s participation at Expo 2020 Dubai was also launched in line with the official launch.
The Expo 2020 Dubai is to be held from 20th October 2020 to 10th April 2021 in Dubai under three Sub Themes – Sustainability, Mobility and Opportunity.
Sri Lanka is to participate under the Sub Theme of ‘Opportunity’ to showcase the strength of the new industries, investment opportunities and sustainable growth potentials focusing a futuristic vision for 2030.
Accordingly, Sri Lanka is to organize a pavilion located at the opportunity district under the theme, ‘Island of Ingenuity.’ The pavilion design has been done by a student team of the University of Moratuwa with the theme of water.
Expo 2020 Dubai is expected to attract over 25 million of which 70 percent will be international visitors. It is also expected that there will be over 200 participant countries during the span of six month period.
The exposition is expected to contribute towards achieving the Sri Lanka Vision 2025 goals by supporting the growth of tourism, stimulating the development of innovative businesses and enhancing the country’s international reputation as a location to do business.
