Sri Lanka nominated for award for best Delivery Destination of the Year

The Sri Lanka Association of Software and Service Companies (SLASSCOM) has reportedly announced that Sri Lanka has been nominated for a prestigious award by the Global Sourcing Association (GSA).
The Delivery Destination of the Year Award was established to champion best practice in sourcing programmes and to recognise and reward delivery destinations that deliver excellent results and value-add to the strategic sourcing industry.
Accordingly, the winner is to be announced at the GSA UK Awards Ceremony on November 27th at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, London.
The evaluation criteria for the award include the country’s approach to differentiation, overall strategic vision for business services delivery, target markets identified and approaches to serve them, focus on skills development and talent management, and approach to building an innovative, collaborative environment.
The evaluation also focuses on the country’s growth and performance against targets, focus and commitment to best practices and the contribution to the industry.
Ranil Rajapakse, Chairman SLASSCOM has been quoted as saying, “I’m delighted that Sri Lanka is selected again for the Delivery Destination award. We have won this award in 2013 and 2014, and this nomination highlights Sri Lanka’s ingenuity, capability and attractiveness as a compelling global destination. We continue to differentiate ourselves as the Island of Ingenuity offering Captive Innovation Centers, being your Digital Gateway to Asia, and providing access to invest in Digital Disruptors.”
GSA is the industry association and professional body for the global sourcing industry and has published the Global Sourcing Standard, a world first for the provision of a portfolio of best practice methodologies and accreditation programmes supported by both buyers and suppliers of sourcing.
SLASSCOM is the national chamber for the knowledge and innovation industry in Sri Lanka and acts as the catalyst of growth for the industry by facilitating trade and business, propagation of education and employment, encouraging research and innovation, and by supporting the creation of a progressive national policy.

OSL take:

Sri Lanka has been making positive strides in the country’s ICT sector as well as the development of the country’s digital infrastructure. The nomination of Sri Lanka to the aforementioned award is also indicative of this fact. The growing business potential in the country’s ICT and digital infrastructure development sectors could be explored by foreign businesses/investors. Afterall Sri Lanka is now considered an ideal business destination in the South Asian region given its geographical positioning in the Indian Ocean and the many trade agreements as well as the trade concessions enjoyed by the country.
