Sri Lanka is to host the 46th edition of Miss Globe World final on February 25th at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre in Colombo, making it the biggest MICE event to be staged in Sri Lanka.
The event is expected to attract participants from 80 countries and over 20,000 foreign visitors are expected to attend the event, National Organizer, Tronic Entertainment (Pvt) Ltd, Tatyana Rajapaksa has been quoted as saying.
She has noted that the event would be watched live by over 600,000 viewers giving tremendous destination marketing value for Sri Lanka.
Rajapaksa has further noted that mini pageants would also be hosted in hotels in Kandalama, Kandy and Hambantota which will also give additional value for these destinations outside Colombo.
“We believe that this international pageant will create an epiphany of opportunities and bring an array of benefits to our country,” she has said.
An official from Tronic Entertainments has told the local media that the bid to host this event was done last year and the Easter Sunday attacks did not have a major negative impact to bring it to Sri Lanka.
“We convinced the organisers that Sri Lanka was safe destination.”
According to the event organizers, Sri Lanka had won the bid to host the event over China.
Miss Globe is an annual conventional Beauty Pageant Organization which was found in 1974 in Los Angeles USA and every year 60 participants from different nations and cultures take part in order to represent their country.
