Sri Lanka Customs launches digital signature for paperless processing

Sri Lanka Customs, in a bid to improve efficiency for its users, has reportedly launched the digital signature facility for paperless processing.
Local media reports have stated that the move was part of a stepped-up automation transformation at Sri Lanka Customs and improving ease of use, reducing cost and time for the private sector.
Chief Guest at the launch was Sri Lanka’s Money and Capital Market, State Enterprise Reforms State Minister Ajith Nivard Cabraal whilst Sri Lanka Customs Director General Maj. Gen.(Retd.) Vajitha Ravipriya and LankaClear Chairman Dr. Kenneth de Zilwa had also attended the event.

The government of Sri Lanka is focused on improving the ease of doing business environment in the country. Sri Lanka has shown positive movement in the ease of doing business environment index as well. Sri Lanka has given priority to the development of the country’s ICT and digital infrastructure sectors. Authorities are working towards transforming the country in to a digital based e-economy. This has resulted in the expansion of business/investment opportunities in Sri Lanka’s ICT and digital infrastructure development sectors.
