Sri Lanka awards contracts to two foreign companies to purchase fertilizer

Sri Lanka’s state owned Ceylon Fertilizer Company (Lak Pohora) and Colombo Commercial Fertilizer Company Ltd (Commercial Fertilizer) have reportedly awarded contracts for 75,000 metric tonnes of urea and super phosphate to Swiss Singapore Overseas Enterprises and Midgulf International.

Sri Lanka’s Government Information Department has stated that the two state owned fertilizer companies had called international bids and the country’s Cabinet of Ministers had approved the deals after competitive tenders.

Accordingly, Midgulf International Limited had won a deal for 60,000 metric tonnes of granular fertilizer at 241.9 dollars per metric ton while Swiss Singapore Overseas Enterprises had won a deal for 15,000 metric tonnes of triple super phosphate for 239 dollars per metric tonne.
