OSL take:

The impending food crisis in Sri Lanka has opened up new business/investment opportunities for foreign businesses/investors. The expanding opportunities in the country’s agriculture industry, especially in the supply of seeds, fertiliser, machinery and technical expertise have also received funding pledges from foreign multilateral donor/funding agencies. Therefore, the supply of fertiliser, which has been identified as an immediate need by the agriculture sector, is a new business/investment opportunity. The country is also looking at long term solutions to address the growing demand for food in Sri Lanka, indicating a growing trend in the opportunities in the agriculture industry. Foreign businesses could also look at forming partnerships or joint ventures with local businesses engaged in the agriculture sectors to expand operations.
