Sri Lankan government to call for EOIs and RFPs to select consultancy firm for the Colombo Port North harbour project

The government of Sri Lanka has decided to commence the required process to select a suitable consultancy firm that would conduct a feasibility study on the proposed Colombo Port North harbour project.
The proposal presented by Ports Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe to the Cabinet of Ministers, Expressions of Interest (EOI) and Request for Proposals (RFP) are to be called in order to select a consultancy firm for the project.
Recent media reports quoted Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe as saying that the Colombo Port could be extended up to Ja-Ela under the North harbour project.
According to the Prime Minister, Japan’s help will be sought in conducting the feasibility studies for the North harbour.
The Cabinet of Ministers has also approved a proposal to construct a new jetty for the Kankasanthurai (KKS) harbour using funds provided by the Indian government.
The government is to also utilize Indian funds for the renovation of the existing jetty and breakwater system in the KKS harbour.
