RFP’s to be called for Hotels, Convention centers, Hospital and an International School at Port City
Sri Lanka is calling for investor proposals to construct a hotel, convention center, hospital and international school in China’s freshly reclaimed territory. The National Public-Private Partnership Agency of Sri Lanka will help in the process, said the State Information Office.
The ministers ‘ cabinet had approved the suggestion to set up a negotiating committee and project committee by Sri Lanka’s Megapolis and Western Development Minister.
Proposals for the construction of a hotel, convention and exhibition center, and a private hospital will be called upon. There will also be an international school coming up.
Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka’s territory, was reclaimed by CHEC Port City Colombo (Pvt) Ltd, a Chinese Communication and Construction group subsidiary in an investment of $1.4 billion. CHEC Port City has provided a portion of the property to the Sri Lankan government to develop under the contract with Sri Lanka.
The Colombo Port City was added under the Urban Development Authority (UDA) as an urban development region, said Megapolis and the Minister of Western Development earlier last month.
Recently, a resolution adopted by the Parliament has included the Colombo Port City in the Administrative District of Colombo. Accordingly, all Port City land development operations will be subject to the oversight of UDA regulations.
