Resus Energy green bond listed on Luxembourg bourse
EconomyNext: Sri Lanka’s Resus Energy PLC has listed its green bond on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange (LuxSE), creating a dual listing for the debt security, the company said in a regulatory filing.
“Green Bond of Resus Energy PLC was listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange (LuxSE) – Luxembourg Green Exchange on 19th October 2026,” Resus Energy said in the filing following the formal admission of the securities to the European platform.
The company said the debt instrument has been admitted to the Securities Official List (SOL) of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.
The dual listing covers two distinct tranches, classified as Type A and Type B bonds.
Despite the offshore admission, Resus Energy explained that the move does not open the securities to secondary trading overseas.
“The Green Bond will remain listed on the CSE, while its listing on LuxSE will create a dual listing however Green Bond will not be traded on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange,” the company said.
Resus Energy said secondary market activities will continue unchanged within the domestic framework.
The trading and settlement of both bond series will continue exclusively through the Colombo Stock Exchange in Sri Lankan rupees.
Official confirmation notices for both bond categories have been made available on the Luxembourg bourse’s platform.
The arrangement provides the company with international listing status on Europe’s specialized green exchange, while its core operations and investor settlements remain fully anchored in the local market.
OSL take:
Sri Lanka’s rapidly evolving energy industry is emerging as an important destination for foreign investment, with business/investment opportunities expanding across renewable power generation, energy storage, grid infrastructure and green financing. The country’s ambition to generate 70% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality in power generation by 2050 is creating demand for international capital, technology and expertise. The country’s energy utility’s Long-Term Generation Expansion Plan 2025–2044 identifies solar, wind, mini-hydro and biomass as key areas for future capacity expansion. Solar and wind power offer significant business/investment opportunities. Ground-mounted and floating solar projects, offshore wind farms and renewable energy parks are among the investment priorities identified by the Board of Investment (BOI). Preliminary assessments have identified substantial offshore wind potential in the Mannar and Puttalam regions, creating opportunities for international developers and infrastructure investors. Energy storage is another emerging investment frontier. Growing renewable generation is increasing demand for battery energy storage systems, pumped-storage facilities and modernised transmission networks to improve grid stability. The Sri Lankan Government’s plans to expand battery storage are opening opportunities for technology providers, project developers and infrastructure financiers. Green financing is also gaining importance. Resus Energy PLC’s recent green bond listing on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange, alongside its Colombo Stock Exchange listing, highlights opportunities for Sri Lankan energy companies to access international capital-market platforms. Foreign investment opportunities extend beyond power generation to engineering, equipment supply, energy management, project financing and technology partnerships.
