Ocean Network Express launches third service at South Asia Gateway Terminals in Sri Lanka’s Colombo Port

The mega carrier former by the merger of three Japanese shipping lines, NYK, MOL and K Line – Ocean Network Express (ONE) – has reportedly launched its third service at South Asia Gateway Terminals (SAGT) in Sri Lanka’s Colombo Port.
The maiden call by NYK Themis on the ONE PS3 service was on 7th of June, 2018, the local media has reported.
“We are pleased to bring forth a brand new option of a direct service between Colombo and the U.S. West Coast to serve the needs of our customers,” Vishvanath Daluwatte, Managing Director of ONE Lanka has been quoted as saying in the media.
“We are privileged to serve as the primary terminal in the Port of Colombo for ONE services and look forward to growing the business over the Port of Colombo together,” Romesh David, Chief Executive of SAGT has reportedly said.
SAGT is part of John Keells Holdings, with other shareholders being Maersk/APM Terminals, Sri Lanka Ports Authority and Peony investments (a subsidiary of Evergreen Marine Corporation).
ONE has already launched two services at SAGT, namely, EC5 and TIP since the commencement of its operations in April 2018.

OSL take:

The launch of the third service at SAGT by ONE is an expression of confidence in the standards maintained by the ports in Sri Lanka, especially the Port of Colombo. The operations of ONE at the Colombo Port would encourage other global logistics providers/shipping lines to call at the Colombo Port when sailing through the Indian Ocean region.
