OSL take:
Sri Lanka’s manufacturing industry is continuing to record a steady growth resulting in an increase in access in local and international markets. The country’s manufacturing industry has shown great strength and resilience by continuing with its growth path even during the economic crisis faced by the country in 2022. The growing manufacturing industry in Sri Lanka has shown great expansion to foreign markets as well. The strong trade ties enjoyed by Sri Lanka with many foreign countries, the many promotional campaigns carried out by local authorities in foreign markets and the move to push local export manufacturers to add value and diversify the existing export product portfolio have all helped expand the market space for Sri Lankan products in foreign markets. It is in such a backdrop that Macktiles as well as Multilac and many other businesses in Sri Lanka are promoting locally produced brands in foreign markets with interest being shown by many foreign markets in them as well. All these developments indicate an expansion in the business/investment opportunities in Sri Lanka’s manufacturing and exports sectors. Given the increasing business potential in the local manufacturing and exports sectors present lucrative opportunities for foreign businesses/investors. Sri Lanka also presents the best venue for foreign businesses to set up manufacturing and trading ventures to engage with other countries in the region using the preferential treatment enjoyed by Sri Lanka with other countries in the region. Foreign businesses could therefore also look at further expanding operations through partnerships or joint ventures with local businesses as well.
