Malaysia’s TRUCKNET Global Berhad to invest in Sri Lanka

TRUCKNET Global Berhad, which is one of the leading truck body manufactures in Malaysia, is reportedly looking at investing in Sri Lanka.
TRUCKNET, which won the best entrepreneur award for innovation at the Asian Pacific international Entrepreneur award ceremony held in Malaysia, has already appointed Ihthisam Holdings Colombo as their exclusive business partner in Sri Lanka, the local media has reported.
Chairman Ihthisam Holdings, Abul Mawahib has been quoted as saying that they have business venture partnerships in higher education in both Malaysia and Singapore and saw the success of TRUCKNET.
He has noted that the Malaysian company, TRUCKNET, is involved in the building of mini cafes, restaurants, coffee shops, phone and booths on trucks giving easy access for small and medium sector entrepreneurs to start a business and be mobile.
“The truck can be driven to any event thus ensuring mobility,” he has said.
According to reports, many entrepreneurs not only in Malaysia but in Japan, Singapore and Indonesia use these trucks and in Sri Lanka these contraptions can easily be built on mini trucks.
Also, most of the material required for assembly is found locally which will help make the final product economical.

OSL take:

The business potential viewed by Malaysia’s TRUCKNET in Sri Lanka is indicative of the growing business potential in the island. Sri Lanka’s geographical positioning in the Indian Ocean region, the ease of doing business environment in the country and the many trade agreements as well as trade concessions enjoyed by the country have made it an attractive business destination in the South Asian region. Therefore, Sri Lanka has space for the implementation of innovative business ideas.
