The Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd. (AASL) officially announced this expansion, marking a significant development in air travel between the two countries.
The AASL confirmed that Jazeera Airways will now operate daily flights to and from Sri Lanka, a notable enhancement of their existing service. This increased frequency is a direct response to the burgeoning demand for convenient and cost-effective travel options.
“Jazeera Airways, your go-to low-cost carrier, first took off in Colombo in 2021, and now, due to the incredible demand, Jazeera is taking flights daily,” said the AASL, emphasizing the airline’s commitment to meeting the needs of its passengers.

This is indicative of the growth in the tourism industry as well as the expansion in the airport and aviation industry. The increase in air traffic to Sri Lanka has created a host of new business/investment opportunities in the airport and aviation industry, especially in the development of infrastructure as well as supplementary infrastructure facilities. The government of Sri Lanka has already launched a programmed to develop a second terminal at the country’s key international airport, Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA). Local authorities are also engaged in a programmed to develop and expand operations of regional airports in the country. This has created a host of new business/investment opportunities. The overall economic activities in the country and the target of becoming an emerging business destination in the South Asian region will also result in the expansion of opportunities in Sri Lanka’s airport and aviation industry.
