Indian company wins deal to improve and build a grid substation for Sri Lanka’s state owned CEB
ABB India Limited has reportedly been selected to improve and build a grid substation for Sri Lanka’s state owned Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), which is expected to cost several millions of Sri Lankan rupees.
The Government Information Department has issued a statement noting that the substation will be built in Biyagama, which is a large industrial zone in Sri Lanka’s Western Province,
The Cabinet of Ministers had reportedly granted approval last month to the awarding of the contract to ABB India Limited.
The latest project in Sri Lanka’s power and energy sector that has been awarded to an Indian company indicates the growing investment opportunities in the country’s power sector. With a looming power crisis, Sri Lanka is open for investments in the power and energy sector.
