High profile Canadian business delegation discuss improving business ties with Sri Lanka.
Newswire: Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Ali Sabry met with a high-profile Canadian business delegation of nearly 20 members at the Foreign Ministry recently.
The Canadian business delegation was headed by Shadow Minister for Canadian Heritage Rachel Thomas.
Minister Ali Sabry said that the Canadian delegation also consisted mainly of Sri Lankan expatriates of all communities.
He said that the discussion focused on the ways and means to improve business between the two countries and the promotion of Sri Lankan businesses in Canada.
Minister Sabry further said that the discussion also focused on investment in Sri Lanka and the promotion of Sri Lanka as a tourist destination
“I was delighted to witness the enthusiasm and drive of the Sri Lankan expatriate community towards building our nation, building bridges between the communities, and the achieving of lasting peace. Sri Lanka can, Sri Lanka will,” he said via a message on Twitter.

Sri Lanka is focused on wooing foreign businesses/investors to the country while also working towards positioning the country as an emerging business destination in the South Asian region. The country’s geographical positioning in the Indian Ocean and the strong trade ties have also helped Sri Lanka in its path to becoming a business destination in the region.
