GoSL invites investors for property and multimodal transport hub
The Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL) is expected to announce bids for a competitive tender to grant a nine acre property located in Colombo known as Chalmers Granary for the purposes of developing a property and multimodal transport hub project.
The Cabinet approved the proposal submitted by Megapolis and Western Province Development Minister Champika Ranawaka to tender the total land extent of 9-acres 3-roods 7-percheswhich is presently owned by the Urban Development Authority (UDA) for the project.
The government intends to set up light rail transit (LRT) lines and bus lanes that will link up with the multimodal transport hub.
Numerous researches have been carried out regarding the multimodal transport hub with many rapid transit projects in the pipeline for a number of years.
The multimodal transport hub will provide many opportunities to investors in the transport sector to form PPPs with the government of Sri Lanka or even introduce innovative transport solutions. An LRT project will also pave the way for other infrastructure projects related to it.
