Global leader in payments technology launches initiative to encourage tourists to visit and discover Sri Lanka

The global leader in payments technology, Visa (NYSE: V), has reportedly launched a unique initiative that invites travelers who have visited Sri Lanka to showcase the unique warmth they experienced in the island nation in a bid to encourage tourists to visit and discover Sri Lanka.
RepostSriLanka is now live as Visa’s initiative to encourage tourists to visit and discover Sri Lanka and its globally renowned appeal as a great tourist destination, local media report stated.
The Instagram led initiative, estimated to reach seven million Instagrammers, is expected to gather momentum as an innovative venture that will support and uplift tourism in the country and showcased through the @visasrilanka Instagram page, RepostSriLanka invites all those who have visited Sri Lanka to share their memories, moments and photos taken during their visit on their own Instagram feeds to retell the story of Sri Lanka’s beauty, reports further stated.
“We are delighted to launch RepostSriLanka as an initiative for travelers to come and experience the beauty and hospitality of the country,” Anthony Watson, Visa’s Country Manager for Sri Lanka and the Maldives has been quoted as saying.
“As Sri Lanka strives to rebuild its tourism industry, Visa believes it would empower and encourage travelers to visit Sri Lanka more and enable the country’s tourism sector to grow,” he has further observed.
RepostSriLanka also gives participants the opportunity to see for themselves how increasing tourist arrivals would impact the Sri Lankan tourism sector, empowering the livelihood of thousands of Sri Lankans engaged in the industry.
“Sri Lanka has always been a sought-after destination for travelers across the world. With the RepostSriLanka campaign, we want to leverage the power of social media in helping the country’s tourism industry flourish. Reaching out to tourists who have visited or are planning to visit Sri Lanka, Visa believes this campaign can boost the thriving tourism sector in the country,” Sujatha V. Sri Lanka’s tourism industry is a key segment of growth in the country’s economy and also provides a high level of direct and indirect employment to thousands. Sri Lanka continues to be among the top tourist destinations in several key global travel publications. The industry also showed an impressive return to normalcy following the setback suffered in the Easter Sunday attacks in April. Also, along with the continuous growth in tourist arrivals to the country, there has been an increase in investments in Sri Lanka’s tourism industry.
