European cruise ship calls at Colombo Port in Sri LankaEuropean cruise ship calls at Colombo Port in Sri Lanka

The European based TUI Mein Schiff 6, which is a cruise ship owned by TUI Cruises, was reportedly in Sri Lanka for the first time and was anchored at the Colombo Harbour last week.
The cruise ship had 2,500 holiday makers on board along with a crew of 500. Most of the tourists who visited Sri Lanka on the cruise ship were of European origin.
Most of the holiday makers went on cruise excursions organised by Aitken Spence Travels to Kandy, Galle, Ingiriya Tea Plantations, village tours, Tuk Tuk rides, walking tours and shopping.

OSL take:

Sri Lanka’s tourism industry is on a growth path for the past few years. Despite suffering a setback following the Easter Sunday attacks in April, the country’s tourism industry has shown an impressive return to normalcy. Tourist arrivals to the country are on a continuous growth path and the island continues to maintain top slots as a travelling destination in many global travel publications. Foreign businesses/investors could therefore explore business/investment opportunities in Sri Lanka’s tourism industry.
