Sri Lanka’s energy sector has many investment opportunities from the supply of the country’s fuel requirement to the development of oil refining capacity in the country. Sri Lanka’s Hambantota Port has oil bunkering facilities that could service ships in the Indian Ocean region given its close proximity to the international maritime lanes. Sri Lanka’s geographical positioning in the Indian Ocean, ease of doing business environment and the many trade agreements as well as trade concessions enjoyed by the country have made it a hub in the South Asian region.
