OSL take:

Many international airlines are either resuming or increasing flights operated to Sri Lanka, indicating a growth in foreign travellers to the country. Sri Lanka has witnessed a steady increase in tourist arrivals to the country since the country reopened its borders earlier this year. Sri Lanka’s tourism industry was one of the fastest growing economic sectors in the country when the global Covid 19 pandemic brought about global travel restrictions. However, with the ongoing development programme as well as moves to place Sri Lanka as a business destination in the South Asian region, visitors to the country have seen a steady increase. Also, Sri Lanka’s airports have received the internationally recognised safety and hygiene certifications making the island an attractive post Covid travel destination. All these are indicative of a steady growth in Sri Lanka’s tourism industry, thereby opening up new business/investment opportunities in the tourism sector.
