OSL take:
The steady growth in the demand for food in Sri Lanka has resulted in an expansion in business/investment opportunities in the country’s agriculture industry. The opportunities in Sri Lanka’s agriculture industry covers two areas – local consumption and exports. Among the opportunities in the overall agriculture industry includes the supply of goods and services as well as the development of supplementary infrastructure facilities. The requirements for high yield vegetable seeds, pesticides and fertilizers also present business opportunities. Also, the many trade agreements as well as trade concessions enjoyed by Sri Lanka have supported the exporting of agriculture crops. Given the growth and business potential in Sri Lanka’s expanding agriculture industry, foreign businesses/investors could confidently explore the growing opportunities in the industry. Foreign businesses could also look at forming partnerships or joint ventures with local businesses engaged in the agriculture industry with the aim of further expansion.
