Conde Nast Traveler readers vote Sri Lanka as fourth best country to travel to in 2019

Sri Lanka has been voted as the fourth best country to travel to in 2019 by the readers of the up-market travel publication Conde Nast Traveler.
Sri Lanka has been voted into this posotion despite the Easter Sunday terror attacks which had a negative impact on the country’s tourism sector.
The 32nd Reader’s Choice Awards of the Conde Nast Traveler published in November has shown Sri Lanka sloted behind Indonesia, Thailand and Portugal.
Saying that “big things come in small packages,” Conde Nast has highlighted the variety of attractions Sri Lanka has to offer, from culture and tea plantations to its beaches.
The magazine has stated that despite the terror attacks in April, Sri Lanka’s tourism sector is slowly recovering with initiatives such as the free visa on arrival program.
The 32nd edition of the Conde Nast Traveler was record-breaking with 600,000 registered voters giving their opinion on the best countries, hotels, cities and islands in the world.
South Africa, Peru, Greece, the Philippines, Italy and Vietnam made up the rest of the top 10 countries in the world for 2019.

OSL take:

Sri Lanka continues to maintain the top slot as the destination of the year in several key global travel publications. The latest inclusion of Sri Lanka among the top 10 destinations to travel to by the prestigious Conde Nast Traveler magazine would give a further boost to Sri Lanka’s tourism industry. Despite suffering a setback following the Easter Sunday attacks in April, Sri Lanka’s tourism sector has shown an impressive return to normalcy. The increase in tourist arrivals to the country and the overall growth in the country’s tourism industry have resulted in the expansion of business/investment opportunities in Sri Lanka’s tourism sector.
