OSL take:
Sri Lanka’s tourism industry is experiencing renewed growth, creating attractive business/investment opportunities for foreign businesses/investors across the leisure and hospitality sector. Rising international visitor arrivals, increased investor confidence and ongoing hotel refurbishment and expansion projects are driving demand for new investment in accommodation, tourism infrastructure and related services. The recent reopening of refurbished Citrus-branded hotels in Hikkaduwa and Waskaduwa reflects a broader trend of reinvestment and capacity enhancement across the industry. At the same time, growing interest from international hotel and hospitality brands underscores confidence in Sri Lanka’s long-term tourism potential, with global operators increasingly exploring opportunities to establish or expand their presence in the country. Beyond hotels and resorts, business/investment opportunities extend to mixed-use tourism developments, luxury and boutique accommodation, wellness and eco-tourism, marinas, entertainment facilities, convention and events infrastructure, and digital tourism services. Supported by Sri Lanka’s rich natural and cultural attractions, strategic location in the Indian Ocean and continued efforts to strengthen tourism infrastructure, the sector offers significant potential for foreign businesses/investors seeking exposure to one of South Asia’s fastest-recovering tourism markets.
