OSL take:
Sri Lanka’s tea industry is on a steady growth with the aim of regaining the top slot enjoyed by Ceylon Tea in the global tea market in the past. The many trade agreements as well as trade concessions enjoyed by Sri Lanka with other countries have also helped boost the local tea industry. It is in such a backdrop that Sri Lanka has entered into a deal with a Saudi brand. All these are indicative of the increasing demand for Ceylon Tea and the growth of Sri Lanka’s overall tea industry. With Sri Lanka engaged in a programme to further strengthen and expand the country’s trade ties with many foreign countries, the business/investment opportunities in the local exports sector, especially in the tea industry continue to expand. The evolving global demand for tea and tea-based products has resulted in Sri Lanka’s tea industry also focusing on producing high-quality tea brands as well as manufacturing many tea-based products to suit foreign markets. All these have resulted in the opening of many new business/investment opportunities in Sri Lanka’s tea industry that present lucrative opportunities for foreign businesses/investors on the lookout for such in the Asian region. Given Sri Lanka’s expanding trade ties and exposure to many foreign markets as well as the incentive schemes offered by the Sri Lankan government to foreign businesses/investors, the business/investment opportunities presented by Sri Lanka’s tea industry would present many lucrative opportunities.
