Cape Weligama of Sri Lanka has been named one of the Top 10 resorts in Asia by Condé Nast Traveller

Sri Lanka’s Cape Weligama hotel has reportedly been named one of the Top 10 resorts in Asia by readers of the travel publication Condé Nast Traveller. Also, another hotel in the group, Wild Coast Tented Lodge has been ranked within the Top 20, reports state.
The local media has reported that Anantara Peace Haven, Tangalle was ranked at 16, making it in to the Top 20. Anantara is a joint venture between Thailand’s Minor Hotels and Sri Lanka’s Hemas Group.
Cape Weligama was ranked the 8th best resort in Asia and Wild Coast Lodge ranked 19th are run by Resplendent Ceylon, a company affiliated to Sri Lanka’s Dilmah Group. It also runs another luxury property, Ceylon Tea Trails, reports further state.
According to reports, the Condé Nast readers have picked Sri Lanka as the 19th best country to travel to in the world in 2018. The hotels are new, indicating the dynamism of the industry, which has seen new investments comein.

Sri Lanka is fast becoming a popular tourist destination with foreign media recently reporting that Australians prefer to holiday in Sri Lanka than in Bali, Indonesia. Given the growth recorded by Sri Lanka’s tourism industry, interested foreign businesses/investors could look at investing in the island nation’s leisure and hospitality sector.
