Austria’s Rosenbauer International AG to supply firefighting equipment to Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka’s Co-Cabinet Spokesperson, Minister Gayantha Karunathileka has reportedly said that Rosenbauer International AG of Austria, makers of firefighting and specialist industrial vehicles, has won a 10.3 million deal to supply firefighting equipment to Sri Lanka.
According to reports, the equipment will be used to upgrade the capacity of the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) firefighting unit.
The decision to purchase the firefighting equipment was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers after considering a proposal presented by Local Government and Provincial Councils Minister Faizer Mustapha.
The government has decided on this move since Colombo has seen the construction of a large number of high risers, and the new firefighting vehicles will strengthen the fire department of the CMC to provide protection.

OSL take:

With Austria’s Rosenbauer International AG being assigned to provide firefighting equipment to the CMC in Sri Lanka, the government seems to be paying extra attention to the preparedness to address an emergency in the fast growing Colombo City area. Therefore, companies engaged in providing emergency response solutions could look at the opportunity of approaching the Sri Lankan government or even private companies engaged in large scale projects in the city and present their latest solutions to them.
