Hospitality Investment Conference Indian Ocean 2016

• Hospitality Investment Conference Indian Ocean 2016 drives hospitality and tourism markets in the region.
• The session in Singapore is scheduled for the 26 July 2016.
• The annual Hospitality Investment Conference Indian Ocean (HICIO) 2016 will be back for the 3rd time in Colombo from 24 to 25 August 2016.
• HICIO 2016 will gather leading property developers, operators, owners, investors, regulators, legal professionals and other stakeholders over two insightful days.

HICIO 2016 is a part of the Asia-focused Hospitality Investment series organised by Sphere Conferences, the conference arm of Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH).

HICIO focuses on the markets of the Maldives, Mauritius, Sri Lanka and the Seychelles within the Indian Ocean (IO) region. Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, Minister of Finance of Sri Lanka and the former Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of the Maldives, emphasised the importance of the open skies policies which would directly impact demand for tourism and hospitality services in the IO region.

Every government has to continue to be the primary driver of tourism within the respective markets to in turn spurring investments into the IO.

Tourism numbers have been steadily growing in these key markets, with Sri Lanka leading with the highest arrival numbers in 2015. With the continual strong support rendered by the Sri Lankan government since its inception in 2014, HICIO has managed to establish itself as the platform for local and regional hospitality players to uncover the next hospitality investment opportunity in the IO.

The Hon. John Amaratunga, Minister of Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs of Sri Lanka, who will be gracing HICIO 2016, said:

“The conference is aligned with the government’s objectives of driving tourism and investment into the region and is a timely platform to connect investors and stakeholders, so as to propel the hospitality sector forward.”

Also gracing the event will be H.E. Alaine St. Ange, Minister of Tourism and Culture of the Seychelles. Organisations which will be present include Best Western Eylon Hotels, Browns Investments PLC, Centara Hotels & Resorts, Crown Co. Pvt. Ltd., Dream Hotels Group, IDeaS Revenue Solutions, Jetwing Hotels, John Keells Group, Kempinsiki Hotel SA, Minor Hotel Group, Moevenpick Hotels & Resorts, Oakwood Asia Pacific, Plateno Group, Pontiac Land Group, QUO, Serendib Leisure Management Ltd., Sun Siyam Group, WATG, YWS Design and more.

Mr David Keen, CEO of QUO, Corporate Sponsor at HICIO 2016, and has recently opened their new Male office to advance tourism in the Maldives, said: “This is a very exciting time for the Maldivian tourism sector. It is not only growing rapidly, but the demographics of the tourists coming to the country are seeing a major shift from a strong European base to a far more Asia centred strategy.”

Ms Patricia Cheong, General Manager of Sphere Conferences, said: “With content that is highly relevant to the hospitality investment landscape in the Indian Ocean, HICIO 2016 will be the perfect platform for senior hospitality leaders to network, exchange ideas and collaborate in some of the most active hotel and resort markets in the region.”
