Visa reinforces cybersecurity commitment in Sri Lanka

Daily FT: Visa has reinforced its continued commitment to strengthening Sri Lanka’s digital ecosystem by joining as a strategic partner for the 11th Annual Cyber Security Summit 2025.
This marks the seventh consecutive year Visa has supported the landmark event, which is set for 18 September at Cinnamon Grand.
In an era of rapid digital transformation and the rise of AI-driven threats, the need for robust cybersecurity is paramount. As a global payments technology company operating one of the world’s most advanced processing networks, Visa brings unparalleled expertise to the summit – not only in enabling seamless transactions but in safeguarding them. By fostering trust in electronic payments and continuously evolving its security infrastructure, Visa is helping shape a safer and resilient financial future for all.
The summit’s agenda is packed with critical sessions, including an exclusive CEO’s Forum on “AI as your Greatest Asset and your Newest Vulnerability” on 17 September, followed by a full-day conference on September 18th featuring global and local experts. The event will conclude with the popular Night Hack, a hands-on challenge testing real-time cybersecurity skills. A dedicated Youth Summit will also be held in October to empower the next generation.
This year, Visa will be represented at the panel discussion by Visa Consulting and Analytics, Asia Pacific Risk Practice Lead Dibyajyoti Sen, delving on the topic of “Future Proof Security: Augmenting Cyber Threats before They Strike”.
Visa Country Manager – Sri Lanka and Maldives Avanthi Colombage said: “At Visa, we believe that AI is not just transforming cybersecurity – it is redefining how we safeguard trust in the digital economy. Our mission goes beyond defending against today’s threats; it is about anticipating tomorrow’s. By harnessing Visa’s global network intelligence, advanced AI models, and decades of security expertise, we are creating smarter, faster, and more adaptive protections for every transaction. Partnering with the Cyber Security Summit for the seventh consecutive year reflects our belief in the power of collaboration—because the fight against cybercrime is not won in isolation, but through united innovation. Together, we can ensure that AI becomes our greatest ally in building a safer, more resilient digital future for Sri Lanka and the world.”
CICRA Holdings Group Director/CEO Boshan Dayaratne said: “Having a globally recognised leader like Visa return as our strategic partner for the seventh year is a powerful testament to the summit’s impact and shared mission. Visa’s deep experience in combating cyber threats and securing billions of transactions annually provides invaluable, real-world insights that elevate our discussions. Their long-term partnership is crucial as we tackle this year’s central theme: navigating the dual role of AI as both a threat and a defender in cybersecurity.”
